Books have gone to print!! Before and after on the interior art 🥰

The special editions have started printing!! 🥳

After the holidays in China were over, I wanted to change one last thing on the special editions—the interior artwork. The proof came with the art somewhat faded because of the paper it was printed on, and it just wasn't high quality enough. So we upgraded the art pages only to have better paper, and look how they turned out!!

Now that that's settled, the books are officially off to print! It's a slow process getting them printed and shipped overseas, and the printer estimates it'll be about a month to print, and one to two months to get over here.

In the meantime, I'll be ordering all our swag and sending everything else over to my fulfillment partner, so that the moment the books arrive, everything can ship out super quick!

I'll post updates as I get the fun swag in, but mostly we're just waiting on printers for a while longer. Thank you all so much for your patience, and I'll see y'all in the next update!!

Bookmarks and proof updates!

Hellooooo my lovely backers and happy February!

The new bookmarks arrived nice and shiny this time around, and I also got the updated dust jacket and endsheets proofs from the printer.

As I mentioned in the last post, the printer is on holiday until later in this month, so we have a little while longer to wait. But as soon as they're back, we'll be ready to roll on the print run!

Smoke test surveys going out!

Smoke test surveys are going out!

This means 5% of backers will receive their shipping surveys over the next few days. After that, as long as everything goes smoothly, I'll send the surveys out to everyone! 

Your surveys will let you pay your shipping and grab any add-ons you might have wanted during the campaigns, and it gives me accurate order numbers on all the swag!

Some other updates:

• I'm working with my printer to get updated prints of the endsheets, interior art prints and dust jacket! We're slowly working through that, so hopefully that should be all squared away by the end of the month.
• The tip in sheets have all been signed, and I'm sending those back this week!
• In the middle of February, there's about a 2 week holiday in China, so the book printing will be paused during that time.
• I did get the bookmarks! Unfortunately, the foil on all of them came with some printing errors. 🫠 The good news is that the printer is replacing them, so all is good, I just still don't have any pics of them to show off. I mean, I could, but the current versions don't look nice at all. 😂

We got a video update this time around!

If you'd rather just skim the bullet points, I'll write a quick update below. ☺️

Bullet points:

• The special edition proof looks good, but there are some things I need to talk to the printer about fixing before we can go ahead with the full print run.
• Now that I know the weight of the book, I can finish the Backerkit set up. Surveys will be going out soon, and I'll send another update when that happens.
• I thought I'd have the bookmarks to show off by now, but the holidays have that printer backed up, so they probably won't ship to me until later this week or next week. Hopefully I can show those off soon!

Paperback and hardcover proofs!

The regular hardcover and paperback proofs have arrived!

Please excuse the slightly dark photo, my room is quite dark in the afternoon! 😂

Now that I have these, I can give them a final check to ensure the files are all perfect to go off to the printer for our special editions! The proof for that will likely take a few weeks, but I should be getting the proof for the foil bookmark in the meantime, so we'll have an update if that arrives first!
